Abstract
The counterfeit gold louis consisted of a gold (30%), silver (21%), and copper (49%) alloy covered with an amalgam gilding. The choice of the semi-precious alloy is discussed. The value of this counterfeit is evaluated and the succession of diverse operations required for its minting is outlined. -- AATA
