Two types of coaxial temperature sensor have been developed to monitor large areas or lengths for abnormal temperatures. They are both bistable transducers in the form of a coaxial cable, a change of impedance occurring at a specific temperature, selectable within the range from -100yC to +250°C. The design considerations and constraints applicable to a complete system using the transducers are discussed. -- AATA
