Abstract
A review of Saharan holocene climatic fluctuations. The emphasis is placed on <sub>14</sub>C dating problems. Transfers of CO in the proximity of water sources where archeological sites are located are a major cause of errors in <sub>14</sub>C dating. Nevertheless, a general coherence of Saharan history is demonstrated through a presentation of data combining physical, archaeological, and historical evidence.
