Abstract
The factors affecting the extent of damage due to iron-gall ink corrosion are explained. A model is presented showing the visible phenomena in the various stages of the process of ink corrosion, from the non-degraded object to the object in which the material of the ink line is completely lost. Conditions rates from 1 to 4 are defined in which the relationship between damage and the way the object may be used is established.
