This article is based on long experience in restoration of mural paintings. The methods used before and after removal of the panels depend on the type of surface. The stages of the work, from pasting and preparation of the support to filling in of lacunae and cleaning of the painting are discussed and illustrated with photographs and drawings. -- AATA
