Abstract
Discusses the history and ancient lapidary tradition of the cave dwelling Mogollon tribe, living between 500 and 1300 AD in south-central New Mexico and southeastern Arizona. Their black-on-white painted pottery, similar to that of the Anasazi, is mentioned. Use of iron-bearing minerals for pigments, applied in a design over a white kaolin clay slip and fired in an oxidizing atmosphere, is noted. -- AATA
