In brickwork at the Penitentiary, Port Arthur, Tasmania, a large negative potential has been observed in areas of high salt content, with respect to those of lower salt content. From this observation, a simple nondestructive method of locating damaging salt concentrations in brick building fabric has been developed and succesfully applied. -- AATA
