Abstract
Heat treatment of chert artifacts can be determined by thermoluminescence. Results on 25 artifacts from 4 sites indicate that color and lustre are not necessarily useful indicators of prehistoric heat treatment. Other lithic material could be tested by this same technique. -- AATA
