Abstract
A study to see whether the presence of pigeon excrement contributed to the deterioration of the Duomo in Milan. The authors conclude that pigeon excrement constitutes a highly favorable medium for biological growth, and that this may contribute to the damage of marble both mechanically and by secretion of acidic products. -- AATA
