Abstract
Contamination of the archaeological samples by quartz that had infiltrated from neighboring soil was eliminated by means of magnetic separation. The slight ferromagnetism of the archaeologically heated grains that made such separation possible is ascribed to diffusion of iron from the surrounding clay during the firing of the kiln. -- AATA
