This is a brief survey of ceramic sculpture from the North Andes to Central America based on an exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. (N.Y. ) entitled: Before Cortes: Sculpture of Middle America (Sept. 30, 1970-Jan. 3, 1971). The figures discussed range in date from the 2nd Millenium B.C. to 11th c. A.D.
