Traditional mold protection methods are described and critically evaluated as rather ineffective. Some new methods and materials are considered with regard to the protective efficacy of antiseptics and their influence on the canvas qualities. A method of protecting a canvas against mold growth by admixing nipagin (methyl ether of paraoxybenzoic acid) to semi-manufactured threads was proposed. -- AATA
