A wooden crucifix from an iconostasis on Mount Sinai is briefly described in view of its state of preservation prior to current conservation, past conservation measures, and current conservation efforts. Originally it had been painted and gilded on both sides: the front with the crucifixion and the three evangelists, the rear with the resurrection of Christ. Due to past damage, the resurrection scene is quite fragmentary. -- AATA
