Abstract
Measurement of radioactivity of lead in white lead in paintings provides a means of distinguishing between 20th century forgeries and works dating prior to the 19th century; Po-210 and Ra-226 coincentrations are measured. The application of carbon-14 dating methods to dating linseed oil in paintings is discussed.
