Abstract
The solid state x-ray detector, cooled by liquid nitrogen, coupled to a multichannel electron analyzer has been used to obtain rapid chemical analysis from selected areas of a wide variety of objects; it has also been used to determine phases present in paint pigments and to obtain information about texture of metal objects.
