Topics included objectives of the conservator, origins of change in appearance (external and internal causes), condition of objects in a collection, chemical processes of decay, visible evidence of change, processes of conservation (cleaning, stabilization by control of the environment, stabilization by local treatment, stabilization by complete immersion). Conservation of professional quality necessitates both access to laboratory facilities and also close collaboration by the conservator with the curator who bears responsibility for the integration of the particular bronze into his collection.
