The article describes the conservation and reconstruction of a large bathing establishment in a Roman military camp opened up in 1977 at Weissenburg, Bavaria. This work was carried out between 1981 and 1983 by the Fine Arts Construction Enterprise of the Hungarian People's Republic after the firm had successfully won the bid for the assignment. Systematic reconstruction included the preservation of present condition (the cleaning and consolidation of walls, pavements, plasters, covering materials, stoke-holes and channels), partial reconstruction (certain parts were reconstructed to demonstrate the original setting), conservation (by some hydrophobic agents that have proved suitable in the GFR). The necessary building materials were local sand, stone, and lime -- the appearance and texture of which resembled the original. -- AATA
