Abstract
Visegrád, one of the most frequented tourist spots in the Danube Bend is full of Roman, Slavic, and medieval monuments. The present report deals with the reconstruction of the medieval castle system including a Roman donjon, the Renaissance royal palace and the citadel. Restoration started in 1973 and is due to be finished by 1985. The main tasks to be accomplished are the establishment of a museum of stonework finds, the identification and completion of walls, window frames and balconies, the reconstruction of the gatehouse with a new roof. Unfortunately, owing to lack of building capacity, construction has recently come to a standstill. The author argues vehemently that the valuable monument be reconstructed as scheduled. -- AATA
