On February 9, 1940, at the instance of the Massachusetts Art Project, WPA, a general conference of representative manufacturers, distributors, and users of artists' oil paints adopted a recommended commercial standard for this commodity. Those concerned have since accepted and approved for promulgation by the United States Department of Commerce, through the National Bureau of Standards, the standard as shown herein. The standard is effective for new production from May 10, 1942.
