This study focuses upon the material culture of Zlarin farmers: their habitation and work. Changes and developments between the nineteenth and twentieth centuries are chronicled. The chapter on housing discusses architectural characteristics as well as interior arrangement and furnishings. Tools used in various agrarian occupations are described. Handicraft activities include only those that are still practiced, the most important of which was the manufacture of textile articles from domestically grown and processed wool. Two other activities are also discussed: the making of leather sandals and wicker baskets. -- AATA
