Abstract
Gives reasons -- material, stylistic, and iconographic -- why the four large cartoons for tapestry acquired in 1979 by the National Museum of Wales, Cardiff, and at the time of the purchase attributed to Rubens, cannot be works by that master. Although no other attribution can as yet be proposed, two paintings at the Ringling Museum in Sarasota, also cartoons for tapestry and currently attributed to Thomas Willeboirts, appear to be by the same hand. -- AATA
