Abstract
Reports on the restoration of the Eisingen crucifix by Tilman Riemenschneider (S. Nikolaus, Eisingen bei Wurzburg), undertaken in 1977-79 by the Bayerisches Landesamt fur Denkmalpflege, Munich. Gives the results of a technical examination of the limewood and of the original polychromy. Focuses on the problem of the so-called unpolychromed wooden sculptures from the turn of the 15th century.
