In order to improve the speed and accuracy of determining relative line intensities in molecular emission spectra a color reversal film (High Speed Ektachrome, ASA 160) has been developed. Since the eye is rather better at differentiating between two similar colors than between two similar shades of grey this method can provide a useful improvement in accuracy in visual intensity estimation.
