Abstract
Abbeydale was a long-lived works for producing edge tools, operating from 1676 to 1933. Restoration began in 1964 and over one million visitors have passed through since 1970. Some conservation and restoration decisions are regretted now, with hindsight. The hamlet is a valuable social history resource center with a continuing conservation program.
