Abstract
The timbers of the Graveney boat were lifted on ordinary strips of marine plywood which were temporarily supported on a rigid scaffolding plank (or sometimes a ladder). The plywood was chocked up so as to maintain the correct curvature by using small blocks of wood. Sheets of wet foam plastic were wrapped round the stake and supporting strips. Crates for transport were fabricated on site.
