The techniques for the restoration of parchment which are used at the Historical Archive of the City of Cologne are described. In this technique holes are filled by applying particles of parchment fiber, after the damaged document has been mounted on Japan tissue. After the holes have been filled in this manner, the front is covered with goldbeater's skin. The fiber particles are obtained by abrasion of rolled parchment scraps.
