Abstract
A low-pressure blasting or peening technique using glass beads was used to complete the cleaning of the Milles fountain bronzes. (See also <i>AATA 11-831. ) The beads, typically 100 mum in diameter, are highly elastic, leave no residue, and produce a metallurgically clean surface without abrasion. As a result of micro-peening, microscopic cracks and pits are sealed, improving corrosion resistance. The cleaning operationis described in detail with photographs. -- AATA
