The author gives an account on the restoration of an object composed of several materials. The saddle restored is made, basically, of wood covered by leather, as well as velvet decorated with rich metal embroidery. The ground for the embroidered parts is made of leather. The restoration of such composite materials has a valuable didactical significance in the training of restorers. In the opinion of the author, it is better to restore the saddle as such by one restorer, than to give pieces to specialists without taking into consideration the unity of the object. Concrete steps of restoration and results of material testing are described. -- AATA
