Abstract
It is difficult to make a detailed experimental study of a coin striking technique, connecting, for example, the dissipated energy and the evolution of the coin geometry. In order to attempt such a study on a plasticine model, the authors recall the conditions to be met in order to obtain perfect similitude between the real system and the model. They then compare this ideal situation with what they are able to achieve experimentally. Discusses the validity of transposing to silver striking the amount of energy consumed in plasticine striking. This method is then applied to a mechanical study of Aeginetan coin striking, thereby staking out its evolution.
