Abstract
Palm leaf manuscripts suffer damage from constant handling, biological pests, improper storage, and natural aging. Treatment of a damaged palm leaf manuscript from the Bihar State Archives, Patna, was undertaken by the Laboratory of the National Archives of India. The problems were dryness, cracking and folding of the leaves. Treatment process involved drying, deacidifying, cleaning and creasing, inking of engravings, reinforcing by hand, lamination with the help of bond paper, tissue paper, cellulose acetate film and acetone. -- AATA
