Abstract
The article presents the latest progress of work that ECCO has developed in the field of legislation for protection of cultural heritage. At present, ECCO is the only organization that represents the profession of conservator in Europe and it has earmarked a part of its work related activities for creation of specific rules for the cultural heritage sector. One of the objectives of ECCO is to contribute towards clarification of legal responsibilities in different steps of the activities involved in preservation and conservation of heritage, clarifying the roles and responsibilities of various experts involved. The article deals about the work conducted till date by ECCO member countries and brings it at a larger level in the international domain, besides Europe. The aim and the hope is to contribute towards creation of specific and common legislative cadres for conservation-restoration by providing guidelines that guaranty project quality in cultural heritage and consequently ensuring its protection.
