The causes of yellowing whitened fabrics and ways of avoiding it are examined. Yellowing which can be traced back to the fluorescent brighteners used and yellowing caused by other factors, e.g. the effects of heat and storage, are discussed. The article is based on investigations carried out by Bayer's customer services department.
