The analysis of solid corrosion products formed on the surface of zinc or aluminum coatings can provide information about the nature of these reactions. Sufficient chemical and structural data are necessary to identify each phase. The analytical electron microscope together with x-ray diffraction analysis proved satisfactory in determining the structure and composition of all the solid corrosion products on the samples studied. -- AATA
