Abstract
Phosphate coatings are presently evaluated by a salt spray test that may take up to several hundred hours. Laser raman spectroscopy is investigated for this purpose. The equipment is described. The technique permits characterization of phosphate coatings and information pertinent to the service life of the coating. -- AATA
