Abstract
The surface migration of tungsten on tungsten was studied with the help of radioactive isotpoe tungsten-185. For the temperature range 1700-2300per thousand, the relation D = 1.1 x 10-3 exp (-31,600 (RT)) was found for the coefficients of surface diffusion. The measured energy for interchange of sites corresponds to the value estimated for the transition in the surface according to the method of Stranski and Surhrmann. Similar calculations for a number of metals show a very good agreement of the calculated activation energy with the experimental data from literature.
