Investigations of fluorescence emitted from various pigments used for Japanese painting when excited with a pulsed nitrogen laser (lambda = 337.1 nanometers, pulse duration congruent 5 nanoseconds). Fluorescence was observed for most synthetic pigments but not for most natural mineral pigments.
