Abstract
Among the few medieval rotundas of Hungary there are only four with six-foiled groundplans. The fresco fragments from the Kiszombor rotunda were discovered in 1939; a temporary, but not very satisfactory, conservation and restoration were carried out at the time. On account of the fragmented state of the frescoes, their interpretation by art historians was highly controversial. The frescoes from the 12th-13th centuries underwent re-restoration in 1982 1983; a thorough examination of the wall preceded this work. See also AATA 22-399 for reference to book.
