Abstract
A series of 14 pigments based on 2, 4-bis(anthraquinonylamino)-6-phenyl-1, 3, 5-triazine with chloro, methyl and methoxy substituents on the phenyl ring and with methyl or benzoylamino groups on one or both anthraquinone nuclei was prepared. The shades of the pigments in poly(vinyl chloride) films using the CIE system of tristimulus values are described; the fastness properties of the pigments were evaluated in poly(vinyl chloride) films, oil paints, and stoving enamels, using visual assessment of color changes. It was found that the type and position of the substituents have a significant effect on the shade and fastness properties of the pigments studied. Benzoylamino groups and unsymmetrical substitution also have an unfavorable influence on fastness to solvents. Some other possible factors are discussed. -- AATA
