Abstract
References pertaining to numerous topics in the area of mathematical and computer applications in archaeology are listed and some are briefly annotated. Topics covered include: 1) Simulation and modelling: including systems approaches, catastrophe theory and other mathematical models, and predictive modelling, 2) Spatial analysis: including regional spatial analysis, mathematical geography, central place models and intrasite spatial analysis, 3) Multivariate methods, 4) Sampling and Research design, 5) Classification, Typology, and Systematics, 6) Seriation, and 7) Significance tests and Archaeological inference. Other topics include Bayesian approaches, reliablitiy studies, multivariate analysis of contingencies, the attenuation problem in using scarce categories in correlations, the closed sum effect when counts are converted to percents, multivariate statistics in characterizing materials by their constitutents, Maya calendrics and writing, and statistical texts (primarily not multivariate). In addition references concerning software and data management are included.
