The author presents the methodology applied and the results obtained in the processes to restore the documentary film “La Respuesta” (Leopoldo Castedo, 1961) carried out by the Cinematheque of the University of Chile in 2012, with the support of the Ibermedia-Claim Program and in conjunction with the Film Library of the National Autonomous University in Mexico (UNAM). The text presents a potential model for the restoration of Chile’s film heritage as well as the methodology deployed in the processes that recovered the 35 mm film in conservation and exhibition format.
