Restoration has revealed that the Madonna and Child with the Young S. John (Muzeum Narodowe, Wroclaw) was completely repainted in the early 19th century in imitation of Raphael's style. The original panel dates from the late 1529's or early 1530's and could be considered an early work of Bronzino. A replica exists in the Metropolitan Museum, New York,cataloged as the work of an anonymous Florentine painter, mid-16th century although John Shearman feels that it too could be attributed to Bronzino. -- AATA
