Abstract
Survey of current information on care and storage of all types of photographic materials. Covers historical processes from daguerreotypes and calotypes to modern materials of all types. There is a long section on simple examination techniques for photographic materials. There is also an excellent summary of the factors that affect the permanence of photographic materials: duplicating and copying techniques, processing for permanence, preservation, restoration, and storage of photographic materials. The final section contains summary guidelines for all aspects of care of photographs. (Abstractor's note: There is an extensive bibliography with references to many foreign articles not usually found in English language publications).
