Abstract
A survey of the history and development of pressure-sensitive tapes and the problems their use has caused for paper conservator. Basic information is provided on choice of solvents and their relative efficacy with respect to named tapes. Correct testing before use of solvent is described. A variety of possible techniques for removing both tape and adhesive is discussed. These include mechanical, immersion, poultice and suction table methods.
