Abstract
Methods of repairing basketry with Japanese paper using single ply paper, papers laminated together and cut into strips, and single ply paper twisted were tested at the British Museum. Three papers, Gampi, Shoji, and Shoim Bis were selected employing varied techniques for coloring, including traditional Japanese yasha. Analyses for aging properties, pH, and relative color changes were used to determine results for comparison.
