Abstract
Hertford House, containing the Wallace Collection, has recently undergone environmental and display changes. The removal of glazing from in front of the pictures, put in place in 1903, also brought about an extensive program of cleaning and conservation. As the Hertford House has no conservation staff, the majority of the painting conservation was done by D. R. Vallance, John Hargrave, John Brealey, and Herbert Lank. The subjects of the history of frames and of picture hanging aesthetics are introduced. The new lighting scheme is described. -- AATA
