Abstract
In a bid to extend the conservator's ability to adjust the refractive index (RI) of an epoxy resin to predetermined value which results in a close match of RI for glass repair, the influence of various factors on the RI of epoxy resin systems has been considered. The RI of an epoxy resin increases during cure until a constant value is reached. This value can be adjusted by the addition of flexibilizers or plasticizers. Examples are included. The changes in RI during aging of the resins have been found to be minimal, as is the effect of varying the epoxy resin/hardener ratio.
