The author considers the wax models for the lost wax casting of bronze caryatid mirrors of ancient Greece. Based on her experience with the extraction and purification of beeswax, she postulates the use of a water-casting technique to form the wax models; a concave-convex disc of wax is formed by pouring molten wax onto heated water.
