The Dallas County Courthouse, Texas, United States, constructed of Pecos red sandstone exterior, was completed by 1890. By the late 1970s, there were serious problems: extensive masonry deterioration, water penetration into the building, and no consistent maintenance program. Western Waterproofing, after completing the exterior restoration, offered to replace the damaged acroterion, the replacement being an acrylic replica of the one that had been placed in storage (the replica was filled with concrete for stability). The building's condition is reviewed, and the four-point stabilization program is presented. A system for monitoring building movement was installed and other equipment recommended for tracking other potential problems.
