The program offered at the Technical University of Berlin is described. Analytical techniques are taught in the first year and applied in the study of metals. The same techniques are used in three subsequent years, each focussing on a different material: stone, pottery, and glass; oil-painted materials; and organic materials. These methods are further applied in the research reported in the students' theses. -- AATA
