Technology in archaeological practice has been a consequence of urbanization and industrialization. What needs to be done is to develop that technology in scale with the real demands of those in the field who have limited resources. Archaeology too often is nothing more than a field response to commercial or industrial development. Archaeometry can provide site data. The primary need is for standards for information, for field work and reporting, and for laboratory work. The trend in education is that the archaeologist and the scientist do in fact work together, and that ultimately their credentials are equal. -- AATA
